In partnership with Light Industry and Science Parks I, II, and III, locators and the Provincial Public Employment Services of Laguna and Calamaba, the ICCP Group Foundation Inc. (IGFI) organized a job fair last May 27-28. 2019 at the Jose Memorial school in Calamba, Laguna. Thirtfy-five locators from the three industrial parks participated in the event geared towards generating employment primarily for senior high school (SHS) graduates. Other participants from vocational an technical schools were also accomodated to explore opportunities in the manufacturing industry.
Unlike usual job fairs, the event with the theme, “Trabaho Caravan 2019: Kalidad na Hanapbuhay sa Mamamayan ay Alay” served as a one-stop shop for jobseekers by providing services like a Basic Employment Process seminar while government agencies such as Social Security System (SSS), PagIBIG, PhilHealth and Philipine Statistics Authority (PSA) were present to assist applicants in securing pre-employment requirements on the spot.
A total of 1, 135 applicants participated in Travaho Caravan 2019 of which around 33% (or 377) are senior high school graduates. Similarly 67 senior high school graduates were part of the 231 applicants hired on the spot.
The high employment or hiring rate of the SHS graduates from Cabuyao and Calamba, Laguna and Sto. Tomas, Batnagas proves the effectiveness of IGFI’s initaitive in contextualizing the SHS manuals used in public schools of these cities.
Due to the success of the job fair, the participating HR groups and PESO office of Laguna agreed to make Trabaho Caravan an annual event.
