Extending Livelihood for Community Women

IGFI has conducted training-workshop on Microenterprise Development in all of its areas and one of the outputs is the creation of group livelihood project for community women. In Brgy. Babag, Lapulapu City, Cebu, the trained community women who are members of Babag Women’s Association were able to acquire assistance from the City Government through the City Social Welfare and Development (CSWD). They have been provided with goods to sell amounting to P100,000.

With the acquired goods, IGFI coordinated with the Pueblo de Oro – Cebu (PDO – Cebu) to provide construction materials for the establishment of a Variety Store. The construction work was done by the husbands of the community women and the completed Variety Store was turned over on January 28, 2019 witnessed by the barangay officials led by Brgy. Chair Ronnie Berdinand, Mr. Ben Roleda of PDO – Cebu.

The CSWD has also conducted training with the Women’s Association on Basic Management and Store Operation to ensure the profitability of the livelihood initiative. For the last 2 months (i.e. February to March), the store earned a gross profit of P117,000, i.e. aroundP 58,000 a month.
