In collaboration with the Department of Education (DepEd), this year’s Brigada Eskwela initiatives were conducted on May 24, 2019 in Cagayan de Oro City, Misamis Oriental and Hermosa, Bataan; and on May 31 in Lapulapu City, Cebu.
Brigada Eskwela is an ongoing program of DepEd wherein various organizations and stakeholders volunteer their time and resources to prepare public schools for the opening of the school year.Under this program, different companies extend donations to provide the basic needs of the schools and supplies for the students. Volunteers are also welcome for some cleanup and refurbishing activities to ensure facilities are in order and conducive to learning.
In Cebu, Pueblo de Oro Development Corporation (PDO) donated 35 gallons of paints and two trash bins to Babag II Elementary School. In CDO, PDO provided six gallons of paints to PN Roa Elementary School, and some cleaning materials to Baluarte Elementary and High School. Employees from PDO Cagayan de Oro and Pueblo de Oro Golf and Country Club also participated in classroom clean up and repainting.
In Hermosa, Bataan, the graduates of Basic Cosmetology Training in partnership with the Ang Hortaleza Foundation, Inc. provided free haircut to teachers. Sumi Philippines Wiring Systems on the other hand, donated paints and cleaning materials to Casupanan Elementary School while its employees volunteered in the cleanup and repainting activities.
