Gulayan sa Paaralan Finalist in CSR Guild Awards

Gulayan sa Paaralan, a project geared towards improving school children’s nutrition through innovative organic vegetable gardening, received an award as finalist in the health category of the first CSR Guild Awards of the League of Corporate Foundations.

Out of 40 entries under the health category, only five programs including IGFI’s Gulayan sa Paaralan Project were selected as finalists. Gulayan sa Paaralan is a school-based innovative gardening project that benefits seven host barangays of LISP IV in Malvar, Batangas. The project involves creating green-house facilities in the participating schools as well as conducting training workshops for students, teachers and barangay workers. The workshops are centered on teaching the participants on how to grow vegetables using recycled PET bottles as planting pots, as well as how to produce organic fertilizer and pesticides.

The CSR Guild Awarads is IGFI’s first attempt to join prestigious award giving bodies ot help promote the Group’s CSR activities, at the same time, gain industry insights to better serve the host communities.

Other corporate foundations who were awarded are Aboitiz Foundation, Unilad Foundation, Philam Foundation and Manila Water Foundation. In the end, Unilad Foundation bagged the Most Outstanding CSR Project for their “Ideas Positive” program.
